SEN/SPIM Provision
At TTTB, we are committed to ensuring that our units are accessible by pupils- not just in the mainstream- but in both SEN Schools and SPIM classes. TTTB Units here are similar to some of those within the Foundation Section- but have suggested adaptations for those who require a more visual and sensory approach to their learning.
For many of these pupils, Music can provide routine, a means of expressing and regulating their feelings, as well as providing an alternative means of accessing other important Curriculum areas.
Such activities focus on core word development, as well as supporting the development of the all important Pre-requisite or Q Skills. These Q skills provide a broad and inclusive framework for assessing learners, taking into account age, cognitive ability, learning difficulties and other significant complex needs.
Watch the video of a non-verbal pupil who learned to say 'bye' through song. This was as a result of the 'Goodbye song' his teacher used for classroom routines when doing the TTTB pilot! Music really is amazing!
