Over the past 10 weeks, the FS pupils and teaching staff at OLOF, have had the privilege of participating in the pilot of TTTB music programme, created an designed by the incredible Mrs Deborah Armstrong. This experience has been nothing short of transformative. Music is often one of the most challenging subjects for non-specialist teachers in primary schools, but this programme- along with its outstanding online resources- has proven to be a true game changer. Our pupils have been fully engaged and enthusiastic throughout and the teaching staff have been overwhelmed by its success in the classroom.
I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending TTTB to any primary school. It makes music accessible, enjoyable and impactful for both pupils and teachers. We are excited for its rollout into KS1 and KS2 and I cannot thank Deborah enough for her vision and dedication. This programme is amazing!

Music Is Making Miracles Happen!

I can’t even begin to put into words the impact this programme has had on my children. I have eight children, all with SLD and speech, language, and communication difficulties — and through this programme, I’ve discovered that so many of them have a real gift for music, whether it’s singing or rhythm!

The songs keep my children engaged and focused, helping to build their attention and listening skills. They’ve also supported speech development and encouraged movement in ways I hadn’t seen before. One of my nonverbal children has started singing phrases from the goodbye song and “One, two, three, four, five, once I caught a fish alive.”

One of my gestalt learners has instantly absorbed the lyrics, pitch, rhythm, and even the piano interludes of each song. She now recites them word-for-word at specific moments throughout the day — often starting a cappella, and when I turn on the music, she sings perfectly in key.

It’s truly phenomenal to witness. This programme has opened up a whole new way for my children to express themselves — building confidence, communication, and joy through music.

We have been using TTTB resources since the start of September with our Foundation Stage pupils. We have found it really easy to navigate the lessons and our pupils have been really engaged. From a curriculum point of view, we have covered several of the learning objectives of the NI music curriculum. Not only that, but the lessons also incorporate other areas of learning: Literacy, Numeracy, WAU, PDMU and so on. Our pupils love the fun activities.

Thank you TTTB, we can’t wait to see more!

TTTB offers a new, exciting way of educating our little learners. It allows our pupils to build their focus and listening skills through engaging music and enticing activities that can be tailored to meet the sensory needs of each pupil. Not only does it have a positive impact upon the pupils but the detailed lesson plans that are available help reduce the workload of the teacher.

I teach Primary 1 and using the programme at this stage of the year has been a fabulous addition to all our Phoneme Awareness building and pre reading strategies. The programme gives space for early listening, rhythm, rhyme, movement, PDMU and lots more! We are loving it and using the programme has led to other activities and adaptions around some of the lessons. Access to Sparkyard has also been amazing! Thank you all.

Our Primary 1 pupils have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the Teach to the Beat music program. The sessions have been lively and engaging, allowing children to explore rhythm, movement, and musical expression in a fun and interactive way. They particularly loved using  instruments and creating their own patterns. The program has helped boost their confidence, coordination, and listening skills, and the joy on their faces during each activity showed how much they looked forward to these lessons.  They loved performing in front of the school audience and I was amazed at the confidence that they showed.

Teach To The Beat has been a great addition to our learning in Primary One. It links very well to our topic work, which focuses on autumn this term. It is great to have access to a music scheme that aligns specifically with the Northern Ireland Curriculum. The lessons are engaging and have captured the children's enthusiasm for music. We look forward to continuing with TTTB and further exploring the opportunities it provides.

P1/2 are enjoying these lovely autumn music lessons so far. I have enjoyed being able to teach these music lessons and I feel my non-specialist music colleagues would like this as it is easy to access. It has been great having these lessons in advance of the week so that they can be built in with lesson planning. The pupils have loved participating in music lessons and they have been accessible for all of the children. They love getting into their listening positions and can't wait to find out what the new songs are each week. It links well to other subjects. We are looking forward to the rest of the pilot programme!

A fantastic programme and so well suited for P1 at this time of the year. It links so cohesively with phonological awareness and early literacy skills. The resources are so easy to access and it is super having everything in the one area and easy to access. The cross curriculuar links are superb and it is so refreshing to have a programme that actually links with the curriculum here in the North. Thank you!

Teach to the Beat has been a fantastic addition to our P1 classroom! The children are fully engaged and look forward to every session — especially the movement activities that link beautifully with PE. It’s wonderful to see how naturally it connects with other areas of learning too; we’ve had lovely cross-curricular moments linking rhythm with early literacy, numeracy, and even PDMU.

Everything is so well-prepared and easy to follow, which makes it perfect for both music specialists and non-specialists. It has really reduced my planning workload while keeping lessons fun, creative, and in line with the NI Curriculum. Music teaching now feels joyful and achievable!

I just wanted to say how much my class in Primary 1 are enjoying the TTTB lessons. As a non-specialist myself, I've found the modules really easy to access and everything is there in one place for your full lesson. I really like how it is cross-curricular, with links to other areas such as Literacy, Numeracy, WAU, PDMU etc. Our Primary 2 class have received the lessons for uploading the morning song, as part of the challenge and my colleague has said her class love the programme as well. Using TTTB has helped me meet the demands of the whole curriculum in FS and I hope to join up to the full programme.
Well done Team TTTB,

quote Cathy Allen, Macosquin Primary School

The Teach to the Beat sessions have been truly uplifting and transformative for our children. In our specialist provision class, we’ve seen incredible progress — from a gestalt language processor now confidently singing multiple songs with perfect pitch, rhythm, and meaning, to a child with severe speech and language delay beginning to join in with the goodbye song and use Makaton for others.

The songs are joyful, catchy, and inclusive — carefully structured to support communication, emotional expression, and physical development. The high-quality resources make sessions accessible and engaging for both children and teachers, even for those with no specialist musical background. Everything is ready to use, well-paced, and aligned with the Northern Ireland Curriculum, particularly in areas such as The Arts, Physical Development, and Personal Development and Mutual Understanding (PDMU).

The sessions have significantly reduced teacher workload, as the clear guidance, lesson structures, and online support make planning effortless. The children have thrived — moving their bodies with joy, interacting with peers, and developing confidence, focus, and self-expression. The joy, pride, and emotion felt by staff and parents as we watch the children find their voice and share their smiles has been beyond words.

We've found Teach To The Beat to be a wonderful addition to our P3 classroom. The children genuinely look forward to their lessons and have been enthusiastically singing the songs long after the music stops. From a teaching perspective, having all the necessary resources provided and ready to go has saved a significant amount of preparation time. I particularly appreciate how the lessons are split into clear, easy-to-follow sections; it makes the curriculum accessible to every teacher, regardless of their musical background. It is a practical, well-structured resource that has made a real difference in our classroom, and we can't wait to see what Teach To The Beat brings to the rest of our school following the success of the KS1 Pilot Scheme.
